Sony KDS-R60XBR1 LCOS Projection TV

It almost goes without saying that your TV is one part of your home theater system that will make or break your system. Especially when forward-thinking, it is necessary to get your TV fully HD compatible. Although I paid a little extra on this TV, I think it was a worthwhile investment on the Sony KDS-R60XBR1.

This 60-inch rear-projection TV has a true 1080p resolution. So when I turned it on and first saw the picture, I was quickly confirmed in my decision in buying it. I had also looked at the Qualia, by Sony, and decided it was more than what I wanted to pay. This model was about half the price, and it appeared to match the quality of the more expensive model. The same is true for the 50-inch version its little brother. For me, the picture is everything, and I think I got my moneys worth in this model. It is equal to any HDTV.

The color was just superb probably reflecting the best that there is in picture technology. The blacks were among the darkest I’ve ever seen. When I tried to adjust the color, to get it tweaked to where I liked it, I found that there were a number of color control possibilities. Six different options meant that it took me a bit of time to get it perfect, but it really did allow for fine adjustments. Another option, called Advanced Iris, allowed me to control the brightness. In my situation, it worked fine with it just being in the Off position.

Another great feature is for guys like me I like to channel surf. This TV allows you to see a picture in a picture. That means I can see what is on other channels while I’m watching my show  I won’t miss catching a few shots of what’s on the other channels.

I was also glad to see a number of hook-up options. The HDMI input port would allow me to hook up my DVD player without any problems. It also can put out a really good picture, and I’ve seen that this TV can produce the picture that it generates.
